It’s Regression time again..
It seems around a week after I get out of hospital, my mind starts to slip back a good few years and I cling a little to some of the things of my past. It’s not to say I am denying the current goings on in my life or that I want to escape it, I just need to grab onto something that helps me realise there was a time in my life before all of this Big C stuff.
I get a real yearning to go visit the area I grew up as a kid, the other side of Basingstoke, to just sit there and soak up the atmosphere and remember bygone days playing 40/40, football and Fox Off (not sure if that was a widespread game or not). I used to love playing a game called Need For Speed 5 so that has gone back on my laptop for a while and I woke at 1.30am this morning with A-Ha’s Hunting High and Low running through my mind.. time to dig that album I think
Like I say it’s not denying my current situation, far from it - it must be just some sort of way for me to handle/cope with my health problems and put them into perspective.
Now, where was that online shop that sells old boiled sweets by the quarter :p

If you can get over to the other side of town, this shop http://www.mahumbugs.co.uk/ will sort out your sweetie needs!

Aah yes, I remember that shop now! Bit too far for me to travel with not being able to drive right now, but a decent order will pay dividends on the postage I think!

Hi Marc,
it is good to hear that you are doing well, talking about regressing to your youth/childhood, how about coming to stay in Chichester sometime for a few days? I know you were pretty young when you moved to New Malden but Chi is your birthplace( listen to Iris Dement, my hometown) . It would be good to have you guys down here at some time.
Carol and I intend to get to Basingstoke some time soon but as I am going into hospital in October to have a new knee fitted it might not be until after that. It was such a shame that your Newquay trip had to be curtailed, will you be able to do it again soon?
Take care

Hi John,
That sounds like a good idea, we;d have to arrange something with the new puppy (can’t leave here for more than a few hours at the moment) but it’s definitely a good idea.
Ouch, a new knee sounds pretty intense - is it Titanium? A bloke I saw on a cancer ward a couple of years ago had to have his knee replaced due to it, he wasn’t too fazed though so fingers crossed it should go okay?
We’ll have to organise a bit of a family get together soon, at least before Christmas at least - either down there or up here, whatever is easiest for the masses

If you want to save on the postage, give me a shout and I can don my delivery boy cap.

Hmm, it would be on your way home Alex I think! I’ll have to have a browse on their site an draw up a shopping list I think

YOU HAVE AN A-Ha ALBUM??? My Gods, and I thought I was bad just having the single “Sun always shines on tv” LOL! I wouldn’t worry about the regression thing… I do it all the time… helps me cope with 4 kids, a husband and a maniac cat!!!
PS have you tried Clove Rock or Cinnamon Lozenges? They’re pretty good for sore throats and hiccups - plus they’re pretty addictive ;O)
Take care

Shh, I have a lot of baaaad stuff in my collection - what’s more worrying is the fact I can remember all of the words!
I have actually been sucking on some Preggie Pop boiled sweets, my friend Kerry put me onto them as they help morning sickness.. has been helping my dodgy tummy but haven’t heard of Clove Rock - what does it do?

Ohh just numbs about anything that gets into contact with it… great stuff! You know how they say to suck a clove if you have toothache, well the rock is a great alternative that rots yer teeth at the same time… very yummy! I’d send you some if I had your address.

Cool, I think I will give some of those a try then - we have a retro sweet shop here in Basingstoke called Ma Humbugs, their website claims to sell Clove Balls, Drops & Rock so I’ll get a fix from there I think - thanks Mel
