On a liquid(ised) diet
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008The side-effects of the Radiotherapy are kicking in, one being that my throat is pretty sore now. It means pretty much anything I try to eat is ripping my throat to shreds, I am having to eat runny Ready Brek for breakfast and last night I had a chicken and mushroom pie throroughly soaked in gravy - looked like baby food but it went down pretty well!
When I was having Chemothapy in 2005 the same thing happened and the Docs at the hospital were able to prescribe me some “liquid cocaine mouhwash” - sounds crazy buta quick gargle with it meant thirty minutes of totally numb, pain free mouth so I could eat pretty much anything.
I called my GP yeasterday to see if there was any way they could get a hold of some for me but they don’t think it is possible to get it for general consumption. In which case they said they might contact the hospital and see if they can assist.
Meanwhile I bought some spray from Boots which does pretty much the same thing (although to a lesser extent) which is helping me keep going.. not sure what’s on the the mennu for dinner tonight but I’m thinking rice and something soft
