Magic… moments…

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Okay, I’m embarrassed to say it but yesterday I went out for my works’ Christmas meal and at a point in the early evening Alex, Tony and I went to Burger King for a spot of quality food. As we got up to leave, the effects of a few JD’s combined with my cunning current lack of ability to balance very well and I fell flat on my face right in the middle of BK :(
It was one of those moments that you look back on and just squeeze your eyes, hoping it didn’t actually happen - I was SOOOO embarassed. So I apologise again to Alex and Tony, again it wasn’t really a drink issue but more a balance thing, something I am acutely aware of at the best of times let alone when distracted by a few drinks. It is only going to get worse in itself though, something I am going to have to deal with..

Beside that, it was a cool meal, we went to ASK in Basingstoke for some festive pizza and then onto Lloyds for drinks (before we hit BK) - it was good to see everyone from work again, reminds me what “normal” life is all about and what I’m missing :)

Freddie’s christening

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

was today, it went really well (Freddie is my nephew). It happened at the same church where H and I were married (St Thomas of Canterbury), then onto the Navy Club for the afterwards food/drinks until 5pm.

Kerry has put up a couple of pictures on her Facebook page, I hope she doesn’t mind me nabbing one to stick up here..

I felt a bit self-conscious having to stand up in front of a whole church load of people *looking like I do* but it was cool, for a good cause and I am now officially a Godfather!

Bought an xbox 360

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

After selling my Marshall half stack and a whole pile of computer bits, I had raised enough “spare” cash (is there such a thing?) and bought an xbox 360 with a couple of games. The primary reason for buying it was that I am assuming some point in the future when “things” start to go downhill I will be more housebound so it will give me something to do.. plus because I have sold pretty much all my guitar stuff and computer stuff I thought I deserved a little recompense.

So far I have only set it up and had a little play but it is cool, definitely gotta get some more interesting games than the ones that it came with.. also I can’t log on to the xbox live site to set my gamertag and download some demos etc.. seems it is down :(

Centrigul force

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I am an avid reader of www.xkcd.com, and a past strip really made me chuckle and think of my days at school - try showing this to our Physics teacher (can’t remember what she was called now!) and she’d vociferacly agree:

Well, we went down to St Mary’s yesterday and watched Southampton v Blackpool, it was an excellent day out!

The day started with a stretch limo picking us up from home and taking us down there in style, we had a couple of bottles of fizz to help keep us going. We got there by 2.30pm and took advantage of the pie and pint for £5 offer, a pint of Tetleys and a chicken curry pie certainly hit the spot before the game!

3pm, we found our seats (row AA) and sat down to watch an actually pretty entertaining first half - hit woodwork and a goal from Stern John in the 34th minute which was enough in the end to take the win!

Half-time, a cup of coffee and a King Size Twix each kept us going and a return to the seats yielded a half-decent second half including a missed penalty for the Saints and a goal disallowed for Blackpool.

5pm or so, the final whistle goes and we troop out with the good feeling we’d witnessed a decent game and the Saints had an acceptable win under their belts so it was back to the limo for the ride home.
A detour to Asda for some beer and cheesecakes followed by a stop at the kebab van meant we wouldn’t go hungry so it was back to ours for food, drink and some reflection on a quality day!

All in, a quality day and I wouldn’t change a thing.. pictures to come as/when I have the energy to find the camera usb lead!

well, in preparation for the radiotherapy that’s coming up and expecting my head to get a little sore, I got Gemma to give me a bit of a trim yesterday - man, Im back in the zone of feeling like a cancer sufferer etc :(

My scar is still pretty visible though, never a good thing.. gotta nip into town today and buy me a decent beanie hat, come the time when my hair falls out completely (Day 19 according to the Radiographer) it’s going to get C.O.L.D. :(
